“Students who are the first in the families to graduate from college end poverty in their family lines forever.” – The US Department of Education
During my time as a TFA Corps Member, what I enjoyed most was spending time with my students looking for colleges in the Fiske College Guide, helping them write resumes, reading essays and writing recommendation letters. I encountered many high school students (and parents) interested in college who felt as though navigating the long process to get there was too daunting. I am thrilled that I have found a job in which I can help them along in the college process and on to changing their lives, and the lives of their families, forever.
It is well with my soul.
Ps- thank you to all those who read my previous blog, A Girl and her Wok. Sadly, that blog address is no longer, but I will be re-posting some of my old writings on here, so bookmark this page 🙂
Ecstatic that you are enjoying your new place, and position.. Still wish you were around Charlotte, and I’ll definitely remember to send you a shout out on your birthday from Belfast.
